1 oz. bag / Kyoto, Japan

This Iribancha was produced by Ryuouen, one of Japan's oldest and most respected tea sellers. This unique tea is consumed almost exclusively in the Kyoto area and is referred to as Kyobancha (Kyoto Bancha).

Iribancha is produced from mature, unused leaves from a variety of tea plants, often high-grade tencha. Harvested in late summer, the leaves undergo a small amont of oxidation and fermentation and then an intense roasting process, which provides its distinct smoky nose and flavor.
