2021 PRE-QINGMING CLOUDS & MIST
1 oz. bag
Sichan, China / Early April 2021
Vegetal / Lightly sweet / Smooth
Qingming is known as "Tomb Sweeping Day" and falls on the 15th day after the spring equinox or on the 106th day after winter solstice, namely in early April. During this time families visit and clean up burial sites of ancestors and make ritual offerings.
Teas that are harvested pre-qingming have higher amounts of amino acids, delicate aroma, and complex taste. The amino acids are what provides sweetness. They are naturally low in catechins, which is what gives tea astringency. Due to the specific times that these teas are harvested, the overall yield is smaller and commands a higher price.
This tea is best consumed in a timely manner to enjoy its peak freshness.
